Social media marketing is the ability to build value to your brand and increase audience levels however leaving a last #impression or #hashtags are a crucial part of social media marketing. It is a great way of labeling and makes it is easier to search specific topics that are relative to your posts. In short, hashtags help you to increase engagement on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn (and so many others). It is important to understand how to use hashtags effectively on social media. The power of social media is that your posts can stay trending for weeks and this contributes to people recognizing your brand and what you stand for. Here are just a few simple guidelines:

1) Keep it relevant and simplify your posts > Short, Sweet and Simple

2) Utilize trending hashtags > Twitter actually indicates what hashtags are trending so if you have a post that is about that category, then go ahead and use it too. Note, do not spam hashtags! Posting hashtags that are trending that are not relevant to your post can actually hurt you. Stay Authentic!

3) Use your hashtags on as many social media channels as possible > Don't forget that all platforms are different so educate yourself on why, when, and where you are using your hashtags. Hence, go back to #1. Algorithms play a big role in how they are generating in your news feeds, but that is a whole other topic.... haha....

Social media marketing and CRE Tech/Listing companies are viewing this on a completely different way. Analytics play a huge role as well. If you are able to measure your insights, then it is easy to help your clients build their social media brand. The Founder, Linda Day Harrison of The Broker List stated, "The value lies in the fact that posts/messages are searchable. The power is finding whatever you are searching for and tracking insights on what the conversations are about." Linda has a huge following on Twitter. Syndication capabilities is a huge boost for any Commercial Real Estate advisor that signs up to her platform as all of the new listings, have and wants show right on Twitter. Stop right now and open up your browser and type in #thebrokerlist ......Exactly! "The power is finding whatever you are searching for and tracking insights on what the conversations are about. The other huge value to hashtags is anybody can step right into the exact conversation or community they want, on almost any subject with little effort. Just a simple search of a term and you are into the community!," said Harrison. It is powerful indeed!

Joshua Lyons with Joshua Lyons Marketing, LLC provides great insight on Twitter as well. He shares his latest blogs that lead back to his website. "We believe it’s extremely important to have a “cohesive marketing plan.” Many businesses will put up an ad on social media, or elsewhere, without that ad really tying into other aspects of their marketing. For example, if a company has a special event coming up, and they want to promote it, they can create an ad to inform their target audience about the event," said Lyons. Commercial real estate advisors often forget to add additional value. I see this all the time but unfortunately it is not that they are doing that on purpose, they just don't understand the value of adding other important components.

Lyons continued to state,"The one thing I see that is missing from CRE social media posts, more than anything else, is a focus on creating engaging content. This is especially true for brokers or brokerages who are new to marketing. They will post a listing. They will post when something is closed or leased. But they often fail to post other content that is truly engaging. As a result, they limit their fan base growth, and depending on the social media platform, they hurt their exposure." Well said Joshua as this is probably one of the biggest misconceptions in social media marketing. Posting content is easy but creating relative content that corresponds to other valuable content is how you can effectively leverage one story that connects to all of your social media platforms.

Social media is changing the world. It is not just about posting content, it is how WELL WE DO IT!" #TuesdayTips
